Karen has worked as a session violinist on both electric and acoustic violin. She is a qualified teacher and a specialist in early childhood music.
Lesson Information
Fees:
Violin tuition costs £36 per hour or £18 for 30 minutes. Music theory costs £18 per 30 minutes
Fees are payable in advance each month. You will be expected to purchase your own copies of any recommended tuition books, theory workbooks or sheet music as recommended.
Violin hire is available at £7.50 per month*
Duration: All adult violin lessons are a minimum of 1 hour. Adult theory lessons are 30 mins. Children’s violin and theory lessons are 30 minutes.
Frequency: Karen recommends weekly lessons to ensure continuity and progression in your learning. However you may prefer to book fortnightly. One-off lessons are also available at Karen’s discretion, for example in preparation for an examination.
Equipment: You will need to bring your own instrument to each lesson or alternatively I have a hire service. It is advisable that all students have a metronome at home for practice purposes.
Practice: Karen recommends all her students practice on a regular basis. Little and often is preferable to sporadic longer sessions.
Payment: Fees are due one month in advance and are payable either by cash, cheque or BACS.
Cancellations: 5 working days notice is required for cancellation of a lesson and Karen will endeavour to rearrange another time slot. If however 5 working days notice is not given, or Karen is unable to rearrange the lesson you may still be liable for the fees.
Music books: Karen creates her own materials for teaching. However should you be studying for an exam or a specific book is recommended by Karen, the appropriate materials must be provided at your own expense.

*Violin hire – I am able to hire 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 size instruments subject to availability. There is a £50 damage deposit to be held in addition to the monthly £7.50 hire fee.
